WBTC 2021 Rising Star Awards – FINALIST

We are over the moon to have been shortlisted by the West Berkshire Training Consortium for ‘Small Employer of the Year’ in their Rising Star Awards 2021.

To be selected as a finalist is an honour and shows recognition for the support, we have given to the apprenticeship programme over the years. Here at Benincà UK we are really passionate about helping apprentices into the workplace and to date have bought on four apprentices via the scheme.

Our first apprentice has since relocated and moved onto another role; however, we have three individuals that make up our current team, that all originally joined us via the programme. Our most recent apprenticeSam Weedon is supporting our sales team and is already excellingAlong with Ben Smith who has worked as part of our Warehouse team for nearly 7 years and Meg Sudlowwho is now in a hybrid role covering Finance and Marketing.

It has been fantastic to watch each apprentice learn and grow into their individual roles, becoming an asset to the Benincà UK team.

We managed to catch up Meg, Ben, and Sam, and they kindly shared their views on the apprentice scheme and what it means to them:

Meg Sudlow, Admin & Marketing Assistant

Benincà really helped me through my apprenticeship course. They gave me a good mentor who taught me different processes and supported me with my college work. Nadia, Finance Controller here at Beninca and my dedicated mentor was very understanding and helped me develop numerous skills such as taking my initiative, research skills and time management. I’ve also learnt skills like communication, teamwork, and, perhaps the biggest one, confidence from the company as a whole.

As an employer, Beninca take very good care of their employees, helping them in their career paths. It’s really a pleasure to work here every day.”

Ben Smith, Warehouse Operative

“The West Berkshire Training Consortium were a massive help to 16-year-old me, who didn’t have a clue what to do with my life. Nearly 7 years on and I wouldn’t change a thing! I am proud to work at Benincà and extremely happy to be part of such a great team. I love working in the warehouse, as I have such a busy and varied role, no two days are the same, but that’s what I love the most.”

Sam Weedon, Sales Administrator

I have settled into my role very quickly at Beninca and have been supported since the day I joined. The friendly atmosphere makes it easy to learn, as there is always someone on hand when I need to ask a question or help with something particularly technical.

Our trade counter is re-opening!

Following the Governments roadmap out of lockdown and guidance, we are thrilled to announce that our trade counter will be re-opening as of Monday 17th May 2021. We are really excited to safely welcome you back!

Our trade counter not only allows customers the option to pick up goods in person but also provides you with the opportunity to pop by and speak with a member of our team over a coffee. We would like to encourage customers to call in advance on 01488 658276 and notify the team when you are planning to drop by. This will allow us to keep numbers to a minimum at any given timewhilst ensuring a member of our sales or technical team can provide dedicated support and time solely to you.

Safety Measures:

Over the last year, we have implemented several measures to ensure our building is Covid secure. This includes installing a brand-new, state of the art thermal temperature screening device within our reception area. Only once a safe reading has been confirmed via the device, can staff or approved guests gain further access into the building.

We ask that all guests please sign in upon arrival. Using a smart device, you can scan the QR code on the screen to make this contactless.

We have contactless hand sanitiser stations placed throughout the building, so staff and guests can easily access and use these. There are also numerous signs placed on the walls and floors around the buildingworking to remind everyone to keep a safe distance and wash hands regularly.

The safety of our staff and guests is our absolute priority, so all guests will be greeted by a member of the Benincà team wearing mask, and we kindly ask that all guests also wear a face covering, unless exempt. We are very fortunate that our large premises and open plan rooms will allow guests and staff to comfortably socially distance at any given time, so please ensure you adhere to social distancing at all times.

In the meantime, we are aware some customers may not be keen to rush back to face-to-face meetings or have got accustomed to working remotely and prefer it. This is a reminder we have recently launched ‘Be Connected’ to ensure no matter where you are located, you can still stay connected with the Benincà Team.  Using technology, we can easily stay in touch and deliver all our services and support remotely. The all-new Hi-Motions 750 Safety Cable for Swing Gates.

Our 750 safety cable is made of galvanised steel and is a very simple, yet hugely effective safety device. Once fixed around the gate post and gate hinge area of swing gate, the cable works to provide protection in the unfortunate event of hinge failure and will ultimately stop the gate from falling.

Following an update to legislation in 2018, the DHF code of practice: DHF TS 011:2019 clearly states that all swing and folding gates should include protection against hinge failure:

‘Swing and folding gate systems produced since 2018 (post publication of EN 12604:2017) should be protected against hinge failure such that if a hinge fails the gate will not drop nor move more than 300mm off its vertical axis. They should also be protected against being lifted more than 50% of their hinge pin length.’

By adding the 750 safety cable you are mitigating the risk of single point failure and adhering to the latest regulations. We always recommend the 750 safety cables are fitted around the gate hinges at both the top and bottom, to provide maximum protection

All the 750 safety cables have a range of 800kg and are available in four different sizes including:

– 750.401 is 400 mm long

– 750.501 is 500 mm long

– 750.601 is 600 mm long

– 750.701 is 700 mm long

If you would like any more detail around the 750 safety cable or would like to place an order, please contact our team on – 01488 658276

How To: Add a unique engineers code to the BRAINY & BRAINY24 control panels

Our 230 Vac BRAINY and 24 Vdc BRAINY24 control panels are suitable for or 2 motors. They are easy to install and ideal for swing and sliding gatesroller shutters, or industrial doors. Both models have a built-in LCD display and 433.92 MHz 64 code radio receiver with 3 codes, including ARC (Advanced Rolling Code), Rolling Code, and Programmable Code.

We are keen to draw your attention to the unique protection code that can be set on both the BRAINY and BRAINY24. This additional function allows the installer the option to set a four-digit security code, which then works to protect the control unit programming, preventing unwanted access to the menus and blocking any modifications to the settings and parameters in the future

Below are the simple instructions that need to be followed to set the protection code:

Here is an example of the LCD display within a BRAINY control unit, showing the CODE function on the menu:

Once the unique code has been set, this should be stored safely and only shared with the relevant parties. By setting a protection code, you can give the enduser peace of mind, by ensuring all future modifications can only be completed, once approved and only after the protection code has been shared.

If you have any questions regarding the above, please do get in touch. Our friendly team would be more than happy to assist and answer any queries. You can contact us on 01488 658 276 or email us at sales@beninca.co.uk
