We are OPEN for business!

Lockdown 2.0: We remain OPEN and FULLY OPERATIONAL.

Following the recent announcement from UK Government, we have been reviewing the guidance closely and wish to make all our customers aware of the following changes to our working practice between Thursday 5th November 2020 until Wednesday 2nd December 2020.

We are pleased to inform you all we are still fully operational, with good stock levels across our entire portfolio.

We have already implemented several changes to the way we work, to ensure the safety of our staff, customers and their families, however, we have now re-introduced some additional measures which we want to make all customers aware of:

No Visitors

As of Thursday 5th November, we will be unable to welcome visitors to our premises in Newbury, Berkshire. Our trade counter will be temporarily closed over this period, so all orders must be made directly with the sales team via the telephone on 01488 658 276 or emailed to orders@beninca.co.uk.

Training on Hold

We have temporarily postponed any training dates and will get in contact directly with any candidates that were due to come and visit us. We will look to resume training as and when we can and will keep you updated as soon as new dates are released and it is safe to do so.

Technical Support

Our technical advisors will continue to provide invaluable support throughout this time, so there will be no disruption to the exceptional service we pride ourselves on. Simply call as normal and support will be provided in our usual prompt and professional manner.

Collection of Goods

We will continue to allow the collection of goods; however, this will no longer take place at our trade counter. All collections are to be pre-arranged with the sales team, with our warehouse staff preparing and leaving goods in a dedicated shelter, close to our shutter doors. To allow our staff sufficient turnaround time, please can we ask that all customers provide at least one hour notice before collection. All customers are asked to wear a mask when picking up goods.

Once again, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for your continued support and patience during this unusual time.

Finally, Benincà UK would like to wish all our customers, suppliers, and competitors the very best of health during this unique time.

Reflecting on 10 Years of Benincà UK

Ten years of Beninca UK… all too often in life you look back and think, “wow, hasn’t time flown by’ and the last ten years really have. This year we have employed a new apprentice, who was born in 2001. Even though I consider myself to be reasonably young, it’s a realisation that a lot of time has passed and of course, so many things have changed.

In 2010 when the company was founded, it started in a marketplace that was recovering from the economic crash of 2008. It was a great opportunity for Beninca to grow with a product that was well suited to the UK market. Our product was not new to the UK, with some established installers and independent distributors already selling the product, very successfully too! The natural progression to allow us to better serve the market was a central branch and for us to become a subsidiary.

The year the company started there were two tragic gate safety incidents, coincidentally only a week apart. Both of these incidents impacted the industry and became the catalyst for change, a change that would divide opinion but ultimately a change for the better, driving gate safety and a more regulated industry.

Based in Hungerford, Berkshire, Beninca UK had a huge amount of experience behind the brand. Even as a new company we knew we were always well placed to offer the best level of service, to our ever-growing list of installing customers. When you start a business like this, you always have a mission and Beninca’s was building a solid foundation, progressing step by step, and creating good relationships all over the UK.

We saw those initial foundations build quickly and in 2012, after just two years of trading, the decision was made at HQ in Northern Italy that Beninca UK would officially become a subsidiary branch to Automatismi Beninca Spa and The Beninca group of companies. This significant investment has built a sound and solid future for Beninca UK.

As a subsidiary, we were able to offer the strength of the full company profile, stocking all brands within The Beninca Group of companies. This opened us up to a wider marketplace, making us a real contender in the UK market, allowing us to compete head on with well-established brands that were already in the UK at the time.

That strength was the fact we could now serve our customers as a one-stop-shop with Hi Motions Gate Hardware products, RISE bollards and CAB Hydraulic operators complimenting the already extensive range of Beninca products. We also became partners with other brands to offer gate safety products, such as the ASO Safety Solutions edges and intercoms products from Telguard, Videx and AES.

As our stock portfolio grew, so did our need for space and in the August of that year, we saw our first move into bigger premises only a stone’s throw away from our humble beginnings. The 5000 sq ft premises were perfect for our fast-growing business and allowed us to build deeper foundations.

Between 2012 – 2014 our small team worked incredibly hard, as we experienced good organic growth. We prized ourselves on being able to supply an installer with everything they needed and everything they wanted from a huge range of reliable products, backed by fantastic customer service. The timescales all aligned nicely, not only did we see growth in the UK but the global brand of Beninca was recovering well from that 2008 economic crash seeing growth in all corners of the globe.

Personally, I have always tried to maintain a level of sustainable growth of the business based on the core values of the brand since becoming General Manager in 2015. Beninca is an Italian brand, so there is always a lot of passion, however, fundamentally it is a family run business where the product bears the family surname, so its values are that of quality and reliability.

Injuries put a stop to any playing career I had, but rugby was my sport and any good captain or coach would always base a team talk around ‘doing the basic’s right’ and solid teamwork to get results. Doing the basics right within a business is all about the product and the customer, make a good product, and keep the customer happy.

You can take a lot from the world of sport and any top athlete, even at the highest of their game, will always talk about making progression and continuingly learning to make improvements. Referring to more rugby, Eddie Jones the current England Rugby Head Coach has often put-on record about ‘building’ the team and even after a streak of 18 consecutive test match wins, the after-match interview was centred around improvements.

As we build and record growth year on year, we continue to look at ways we can improve and the progression that can be made here at Beninca UK. As recently as last year, we took the next step, the next springboard for us in doubling once again the size of our warehouse and facilities to our new home in Newbury, Berkshire.

Moving in September 2019 into 11’000 sq ft premises in the heart of Newbury, perfectly located along the M4 corridor, halfway between London and Bristol, we have further increased stock, added huge training facilities, and continued to increase the team to serve our growing band of brothers that become Beninca installers.

Even in the year that has just passed, a global pandemic that has been catastrophic for some, we have pulled together as a team and alongside our loyal customers, we have had a phenomenal six months to finish the year.

We broke records for the bad in terms of lowest weekly turnover figures during the start of lockdown ‘part one’ but with the recovery and application of all our staff and the dedication of our installing customers to roll up their sleeves and work in new ways, this enabled us to break records for all the right reasons in the latter months of the year. With the flourish that we have seen in September, October, and November we keep that record of continued year on year growth, a greater achievement this year than any other year before.

Looking forward to the next ten years, the future is very bright for Beninca, the foundations have been laid, step by step and with purpose and strategy we have a clear path ahead. We have built a great team of staff who have combined skillsets to support our customers in the best possible way. As we continue to focus on customer service and not losing that personal touch, no matter how big the company grows, we know this is the key to customer retention. Our relationship with the HQ in Northern Italy could not be stronger, or closer, which gives us a great platform and voice within research and development to new products or product updates.

2021 will see the introduction of a new brushless barrier, a crash rated M30 rising bollard, and new technologies as we increase connectivity within control panels and look to app-based programming and reporting.

Above all 2021 with Beninca gives you the same assurances as before, you know what you get with Beninca and that is good old-fashioned customer service and reliable products.

It’s been a tough year for us all, the highs and the lows, the challenges and the rewards but it’s Christmas, put your feet, have a drink, stay safe and we will be here in the new year and raring to go once again!

CAB: More than Automation

Benincà’s growth has been exceptional over the past 40 years, and today the company encompasses the Benincà Group, which is made up of six individual companies; Benincà, CAB, Hi Motions, Rise, BYou, and myone

Benincà Group was formed over time to respond to the ever-changing demands and requirements of the automation industry. The individual companies that fall under the Group, each specialise in different products, whilst also sharing skills, know-how, and experience from across the board. Today, I am keen to draw your attention to the original and first company to join the Benincà Group, which is CAB

CAB incorporates three product lines which were all created at the factory in Velo D’Astico, in Italy. The three categories are motors for shutters, hydraulic actuators for swing gates, and motors for awnings and blinds.

The design phase of product begins at the Benincà Group R&D Department. Once complete, the product will then undergo extensive testing, and only after the product has been approved and validated, will it go into production at the stand-alone CAB factory. All of this, then allows us to proudly state our products are certified as ‘Made in Italy’.

The products that fall under the CAB brand all stem from Benincà‘s passion, innovation, and Italian-made quality. This is what makes CAB, more than automation.

If you are keen to find out more details about the specific products that fall under CAB, please do simply get in touch.

Meeting the Market’s Needs

Meeting the needs of the customer is key to our continued success, by Jamie Berry

History tells us that sliding gate motors have been at the forefront of all things Benincà. Just over forty years ago, Aldo and Luigi Beninca, two brothers designed and manufactured their first product. Whilst working at the family farm, the creation of a rack and pinion motor to move a sliding gate was the beginning of Automatismi Beninca Spa.

In 2020 we now produce 30 different variations of sliding gate motors to suit the needs of installing customers all around the world from small domestic gates to very large heavy-duty commercial products, with the power to move sliding gates with a weight up to 4500Kg.

Since we opened our doors here in the UK in 2010, we have experienced year on year growth in every one of those ten years, and whilst a lot of hard work and commitment has gone into the cause, having the best product for the job has been the key contributor.

I refer to products such as the BISON25OTI which we launched into the market in 2013, offering a combination of high quality and high performance in a truly commercial sliding gate motor. With the introduction and innovation of inverter technology, the BISON very quickly built a reputation all over the UK bringing us new customers and helping to grow our business ever since.

Now, more so than ever, it is important that we continue to meet the needs of the installer in providing new products that repeat the core focus of high quality and high performance. The latest product to proudly bear the family surname is the Beninca BULL17OMI for industrial use for gates that weigh up to 1700Kg.

Such was the success of certain features of the BISON25OTI motor, the BULL17OMI has been designed using the same base plate and footprint as the larger BULL motors such as 10M, 15M and 20HE, but this time, a brand new control panel boasts an integrated inverter. The inverter technology gives the installer complete flexibility in the control of the motor frequency up to 120Hz. This results in, not only digital control of motor speeds but also the acceleration and deceleration resulting in the perfect platform for a smooth and safe gate.

Whilst the inverter becomes a functional tool for achieving gate safety compliance, the accurate speed regulation ultimately reduces the mechanical stress on the motor, thus increasing the life span of the actuator. In addition, the BULL17OMI also has oil lubricated gears and a virtual encoder which constantly measures the offset between currents. All the above represents the ideal solution in contexts characterised by an intensive use.

Meeting the needs of the installer in this way, not only with detailed product features but also fantastic value for money, this new motor adds even more strength to the full portfolio of products sold by Beninca UK.

With our BULL170OMI based down in our demonstration and testing area, why not book a visit and come and see for yourself. Our team would be more than happy to run you through all the features as touched upon above and we promise you won’t be disappointed.

Happy New Year from Beninca!

Its finally 2020! Benincà UK is back in action and ready to serve customers UK wide.

The year 2020 brings lots of excitement for Benincà UK: after celebrating 40 years of the Benincà Group in 2019, we are thrilled to be welcoming the 10th year anniversary of Benincà UK this year. We are positive 2020 will bring new opportunities, improvement, progress and growth. In the last four months, we gained three new team members and are looking forward to recruiting further employees in the future in order to keep up with demand. We would like to thank all our customers and suppliers for all the support they have given us the past year; it’s been a pleasure serving you and we are looking forward to working together again in the new year and new decade.

We wish you all the best for 2020!

The Benincà Team.

Welcoming Meg to the Beninca team…

As well as recently increasing the size of our premises, we have once again increased the size of the Beninca UK team. We’ve had the pleasure of welcoming Meg Sudlow, joining us as Administrative Assistant in early September.

Meg studied at Cours Ste Catherine de Sienne in Normandy (north of France) and then undertook a variety of different courses at Newbury College. Meg is now the third apprentice to join us via the West Berkshire Training Consortium apprenticeship scheme and we are very proud to continue to support young and local individuals into the workplace.

Meg originally showed interest in finance and is therefore being mentored here by Nadia within our Finance team but has been getting involved with a variety of different tasks across the board. Meg has already wowed us with her can-do approach, and we know she is going to go far. Based in the office, Meg can quite often be found answering our busy mainline with her friendly tone, so please do continue to give her a warm welcome.

In her spare time, Meg is a keen artist and enjoys drawing and practising her modern calligraphy skills, which she very kindly put to good use for our recent Gala Dinner event, creating a stunning table plan and name places.

If you wish to contact Meg, please see her details below:
